Are you sick and tired of scenesters, too? Do you sometimes have that feeling like there are just few possible looks and that all the people look same, like everybody is following some stupid pattern? It is really sad if you think about it. A real proof of lack of creativity among people.
A 29 year old graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in illustration, Rob Dobi, apparently also gave this idea some thought and made a project named Your Scene Sucks, where he criticizes these cliches and these "template" people (whom he calls scenesters, according to Urban Dictionary, scenester is a person who tries very hard to fit the stereotype of a certain scene; often having to do with a specific genre of music).
It makes me wonder why don't these people try wearing something different, something that suits just them, that says something about who they are and has nothing to do with current trends.
These are the most common scenesters these days and what are their musts and what their outfits inevitably include. It must be really difficult living with such low self esteem and having to follow each and every stupid trend. I almost feel sorry for them.
But, then again no... Just one look at the images below representing neotrash/redneck makes me wanna punch him in the face with those bedazzled spikes on his vest.
Or this guy! I can already imagine him giving some crappy lecture and telling about his deep life changing experience that is now supposed to inspire the unfortunate listeners.
This steampunk freak, actually, looks pretty good! Probably because it is too far gone, and nobody really wears stuff like motorcycle goggles and mechanical monocle, at least not on the regular work day, and when they leave their houses...
