Harlem-born rapper Azealia Banks has been making waves with her raunchy lyrics and stylish swag. With a growing following, her single “212” landed on dozens of 2011’s year-end best-of lists, and the 20-year-old singer doesn’t seem to be slowing down. So who does this hipster hottie long for? You’d be surprised. “I love Larry David,” Banks tweeted. “Lolol…in that kinda way…” she wrote. Minutes later, she poked fun at her obviously surprising confession and wrote, “Ewww Azealia Banks has an old man fetish ….. Grosss.. I knew that bitch was a weirdo…” Banks revealing her crush for a man 44 years her senior might sound extreme, but check out these other surprising infatuations.

2. Vera Wang and James Franco

Fashion designer Vera Wang has dressed Jessica Simpson, Ivanka Trump, Chelsea Clinton, and countless other celebrities on their wedding days. But who does Wang lust for? Try 127 Hours star James Franco. “He’s a brilliant actor, and the range of his roles astounds me,” she told The New York Times. “He seems to be quite fearless. Drive’s Carrie Mulligan gushed over her celebrity crush — Mario Lopez, er, his character on Saved by the Bell, A.C. Slater. “He hosts a show, and every time, all the way through awards season, every time we did a red carpet and I saw A.C. Slater I was like a complete disaster,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “I went bright red… and they make you stand really close to these people, uncomfortably close, and because of the camera angles and I was always within sort of kissing distance. The world’s former Most Wanted Man had a crush of his own: Whitney Houston. Osama bin Laden was vocal about his love for the powerhouse singer, saying he had lusted after her, dreamed of marrying her, and at one point even plotted to murder her husband, Bobby Brown. A sex slave held by bin Laden said he thought the singer was “the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen,” and that he planned to woo her by giving her a mansion he owned in the suburbs of Khartoum. The incredibly racist terrorist also said he would “break his color rule” and make Houston one of his wives.

While Robert Pattinson may be one of the most lusted-over men in Hollywood, he prefers his women somewhat older. The Twilight star confessed a crush on Barbarella’s Jane Fonda to Elle magazine. “I always liked Jane Fonda,” he said. But Pattinson doesn’t have a chance with the 74-year-old actress — he’s been taken for the past few years, seeing on-screen love interest Kristen Stewart.

British sensation Adele recently revealed that her celebrity crush is of her own breed — another female chart-topper. “If Rihanna wanted me, I’d do it with her. Malcolm in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz is another star who confessed his love via Twitter. “Have to admit… ‘Morning Glory’ was really good…. Rachel McAdams is still my celebrity crush…” he tweeted. McAdams is seven years his senior, but perhaps he would have better luck if the pair were cast in a movie together, as McAdams has dated two of her on-screen love interests — Ryan Gosling in 2004’s The Notebook, and is now engaged to her Midnight in Paris co-star, Michael Sheen.

Transformer 3 star and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely is going steady with action star Jason Statham. But Huntington-Whitely may have her eyes on a younger, and more royal man: “I’m waiting for my proposal from Prince Harry,” she told Live! With Regis and Kelly in 2011. “I keep writing. I think he knows how obsessed I am. Well, he does now. He’s so handsome… Come on Harry!”

Finally setting his sights on a woman his own age (almost), Justin Bieber announced that he would “love to take Emma Watson out for dinner.” The Biebs, who in the past has said he fancies Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry, says he appreciates how “grounded” the Harry Potter actress is. “ I love the fact she is one of the biggest female movie stars, but has chosen to go back to college. Before they starred in the 2011 remake of Arthur, Russell Brand admitted he had a crush on would-be co-star Helen Mirren. “There’s something about her that drives me wild. I don’t know how I’ll get any work done,” he said of the actress, 30 years his senior. 2. Hugh Jackman

Perhaps Hugh Jackman thought the black trench, fedora, and sunglasses would conceal his identity enough for him to “adjust” himself without anyone noticing. Anyone, that is, except for his wife, Deborra, and daughter, Ava, with whom he was taking a stroll.

3. David Beckham

In a not-so-family-friendly maneuver, L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham went in for a grab in the middle of match. With all that running around on the field, a bit of adjusting might be necessary, and who knows—the move may have boosted ticket sales.

4. Justin Bieber

Rocking a pair of vintage specs, a leather jacket, and one hand on the goods, “Boyfriend” singer Justin Bieber appeared at The Grove, a popular tourist shopping spot in Los Angeles. Next to two very large gentlemen, Bieber looks bite-size—but we won’t speculate on the size of anything else.

RiRi constantly showcases her lady bits on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans. The “We Found Love” singer can often be seen grabbing handfuls of her nearly naked backside, propelling a microphone dangerously close to her nether regions, and unabashedly fondling, well, everything.

Possibly the most puzzling on our list, Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie was photographed grabbing her—um, well, we have no idea—in a parking lot. Seriously, what is that?!

Dustin Hoffman looks all too enthused to be fondling himself while swimming in this photo snapped by paparazzi. With a large grin and hand deep inside his swim trunks, it’s just another day at the beach for the Meet the Parents actor.

9. Cristiano Ronaldo

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the sport’s hottest assets. The mega-tanned Portuguese player doesn’t need any help drawing attention to himself, but it seems he can’t help but draw more attention to Ronaldo Jr. On the field and off, Ronaldo can frequently be spotted adjusting whatever’s in those soccer trunks. Are you planning a romantic weekend or vacation anytime soon? If you do, we Artsy Swaggers made a list of top 10 most beautiful and amazing places in the world that you absolutely must have on your bucket list. They look almost too good to be true, but they all exist and we’ve managed to locate them for you, so you could include these stops in your itinerary. 1. Wisteria Tunnel

Wisteria Tunnel is not some imaginary tunnel down the Wisteria Lane, a well known street where plenty of Desperate Housewives live. Believe it or not, this place actually exists and is located at the Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Kitakyushu, Japan. Flowering trees hang overhead and the different colored rows speckle the garden.

2. Cinque Terre, Italy

The Cinque Terre is part of the coast in the Liguria region of Italy. The terraces built on the rugged landscape are a popular tourist attraction.

3. Hotel La Montaña Mágica

Magic Mountain hotel is exactly what you think it is. It’s a hotel shaped like a mountain that spews water from the top. It’s located in Huilo Huilo, a private Natural Reserve in the Los Rios region of Chile.

4. The Crooked Forest

The Crooked Forest is located right outside of Nowe Czarnowo, West Pomerania, Poland. The grove contains approximately 400 pine trees with bent trunks. They were planted sometime in 1939, but why or who made them crooked is unknown.

5. Tunnel Of Love

Giant trees surround this old train tunnel located in Kleven, Ukraine. The magical-looking place is nicknamed “The Tunnel Of Love” by locals because it is a popular spot for couples to visit.

6. Blue Lagoon Hot Springs

The Blue Lagoon hot springs in Iceland are man-made bodies of water, but the springs are heated naturally with the volcanic activity on the island. The springs are especially beautiful in the snowy winter, and the water still quite toasty.

7. Ice Canyon

The ice canyons in Greenland were carved by meltwater and are as deep as 150 feet.

8. Ball Pyramid

Ball Pyramid is the world’s tallest sea stack. It is the remains of a shield volcano formed about 7 million years ago. It is 562 meters high and is located southeast of Lord Howe Island in the Pacific Ocean.

9. The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef system. It’s located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It’s so large, you can see it from outer space. The reef is a very popular destination for scuba divers and other tourists.

10. Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and the largest park in Croatia. The park is filled with luscious green scenery, beautiful lagoons, and amazing waterfalls.

All crime and investigation story lovers will probably recognize most if not all the people in the list below. Let’s have a look at the best and most popular fictional detectives in the world.

1. Sherlock Holmes

Well… This one was quite obvious, but it is impossible to make a list of top ten fictional detectives with out the most popular fictional detective in the whole world – Sherlock Holmes. The character of Sherlock Holmes was created by Scottish author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The fantastic London-based “consulting detective”, Holmes is famous for his astute logical reasoning, his ability to adopt almost any disguise, and his use of forensic science skills to solve difficult cases.

2. Monsieur Poirot

Second most popular fictional detective in the world most certainly is Monsieur Poirot, created by Agatha Christie. He is one of hers most famous and long-lived characters, appearing in 33 novels and 51 short stories published between 1920 and 1975 and set in the same era.
This is how Agatha Christie describes Poirot in The Murder on the Orient Express in the initial pages:
“By the step leading up into the sleeping-car stood a young Belgian lieutenant, resplendent in uniform, conversing with a small man (Hercule Poirot) muffled up to the ears of whom nothing was visible but a pink-tipped nose and the two points of an upward-curled moustache.”

3. Inspector Jacques Clouseau

Inspector Clouseau is a fictional character in Blake Edwards‘ The Pink Panther series.Clouseau is the bumbling and incompetent police inspector of the French Sûreté, whose investigations are marked with chaos and destruction that he himself largely causes. His clumsy attempts at solving the case frequently lead to misfortune for himself and others. He is one of the most lovable, self absorbed onscreen idiots.

7. Adrian Monk

Adrian Monk is a fictional character portrayed by Tony Shalhoub and the protagonist of the USA Network television series Monk. He is a renowned former homicide detective for the San Francisco Police Department. Monk suffers from severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and multiple phobias, all of which intensified after the murder of his wife Trudy, resulting in his suspension from the department. He works as a private police homicide consultant and undergoes therapy with the ultimate goal of overcoming his grief, taking control of his phobias and disorder, and being reinstated as a police detective.

8. Scooby-Doo

Scooby-Doo is an American cartoon series based around several animated television series and related works produced from 1969 to the present day. The original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, was created for Hanna-Barbera Productions by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969. A group of four teenagers and a great dane solve mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through a series of antics and missteps. The great dane’s role initially was to add some humor to the cartoon and make it less frightening. The name was derived from the Frank Sinatra song “Strangers in the Night”. And so, the legend was born.

9. Shaft

Shaft is a 1971 American blaxploitation film directed by Gordon Parks, released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. An action film with elements of film noir, Shaft tells the story of a black private detective, John Shaft, who travels through Harlem and to the Italian mob neighborhoods in order to find the missing daughter of a black mobster.

10. Nancy Drew

Nancy Drew is a fictional character in various mystery series. She was created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate book packaging firm. The character first appeared in 1930. The books have been ghostwritten by a number of authors and are published under the collective pseudonym Carolyn Keene. Over the decades the character has evolved in response to changes in American culture and tastes. Did you know that cricket was extremely popular on the coasts of Eastern Africa, and more specifically among the traditional Maasai warriors? Well, Thomas Mukoya, photojournalist that works for Reuters, took few amazing pictures of them during one of their friendly matches in Mombasa.

Thomas Mukoya is a Nairobi-based Kenyan photojournalist who has worked with Thomson Reuters, the world’s largest international news agency, since 2004 and is the President of the Photojournalist’s association of Kenya (PAK). Thomas has traveled widely across Africa covering breaking news and feature stories from Kenya, Somalia, Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Comoros, Djibouti, Malawi and the “2010 Fifa World Cup” in South Africa and the “Walk to Independence” in South Sudan. His last major assignment was documenting the Drought and Famine story in the Horn of Africa in 2011. Thomas covered the African Cup of Nations 2012 tournament in Libreville Gabon.

The Maasai (sometimes spelled “Masai” or “Masaai”) are a Nilotic ethnic group of semi-nomadic people located in Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are among the best known of African ethnic groups, due to their distinctive customs and dress and residence near the many game parks of East Africa. Shock and Awe: Top 10 Controversial Album Covers

For all you music addicts out there, we have made a list of top 10 most controversial album covers that stirred the public and raised few eyebrows (and sometimes ire).

1. Gun N’ Roses, GN’R Lies

THE YEAR: 1988

THE CONTROVERSY: Guns N’ Roses seemed to enjoy courting controversy — and that joy apparently extended to their album covers. Their astonishing first album, 1987’s Appetite for Destruction, used an image, drawn by underground cartoonist Robert Williams, depicting a raping robot — later versions used different art. The album cover to their sophomore effort, G N’ R Lies, was a collage of faux tabloid stories, which included two misogynistic headlines: “Wife-beating has been around for 10,000 years” and “Ladies, welcome to the dark ages”.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: Responding to numerous complaints, new versions of the album utilized new headlines: “LIES LIES LIES” and “Elephant gives birth to midget”.

2. The Beatles, Yesterday and Today

THE YEAR: 1966

THE CONTROVERSY: The 11th album from the Beatles — released only in the U.S. and Canada — featured the grinning Fab Four wearing butchers smocks and draped with bloody pieces of meat and dismembered doll parts. The photos were first used in promotional campaigns in the U.K., including the release of their new single “Paperback Writer” — reportedly Paul McCartney suggested it be used as a cover image. When more than a few music critics and radio DJs who were sent advance copies of the album objected to the photo, the label knew they had a problem on their hands.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: Roughly 750,000 albums were printed and assembled. The few that made it to stores were recalled. Some copies were taken to a landfill and buried; most, however, had a new cover — with a photo of the band posed around a steamer trunk — pasted on top of the offending art. In 2006, a pristine copy of the original album sold for $39,000

3. Nirvana, Nevermind

THE YEAR: 1991

THE CONTROVERSY: One score and one year ago, a rock trio from Aberdeen, Washington, released their first “official” album, Nevermind, collection of 12 — okay, 13 — songs that would come to be regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time. The now-iconic album cover featured a three-month old infant — the new son of the photographer’s friend — swimming towards a dollar bill hooked on some fishing line. The label was okay with the anti-capitalism message, but had concerns about the prominent display of baby genitalia.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: According to band biographer Michael Azerrad (Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana), the label wanted to use a different image. Lead singer Kurt Cobain agreed to only one compromise: a strategically placed sticker that would read: “If you’re offended by this, you must be a closet pedophile.” The original album art went out untouched.

4. Aerosmith, Nine Lives

THE YEAR: 1997

THE CONTROVERSY: In 1991, Aerosmith, one of the biggest bands at that time, signed a $30 million contract with Columbia Records — a kind of deal unheard of today, but normal in that crazy coke-fueled era. The band still owed Geffen a few more albums, so they didn’t get around to their Columbia projects for another six years. Nine Lives was recorded during a time of dissent and upheaval in the band and the album’s art certainly didn’t do much to relieve their stress: the original art, drawn by Stefan Sagmeister, was based on Hindu imagery and shows Krishna dancing atop a snake demon — with Krishna’s head replaced with one of a cat (you know, Nine Lives?).

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: The art offended some in the Hindu community and the band and label released a new cover that showed another cat-headed figure strapped to a circus knife-thrower’s wheel.

5. Vampire Weekend, Contra

THE YEAR: 2010

THE CONTROVERSY: The much-anticipated second album from indie darlings Vampire Weekend, Contra was a hit both commercially (debuting atop the Billboard Hot 200) and critically (eventually landing on many best-of-the-year lists). The album cover image was taken from a discarded Polaroid discovered by Vampire songwriter Rostam Batmanglij — the band was quite taken by the enigmatic look of the blonde-tressed subject. A few month after Contra’s release, the band was named in a $2 million lawsuit filed by the girl in the photo, Ann Kirsten Kennis.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: The legal proceedings took a strange turn after Tod Brody, the individual who claimed he took the Polaroid in 1983 and sold the rights to Vampire Weekend for $5,000, disappeared when he, in turn, was sued by the band. In August 2011, Kennis dropped her suit after receiving an undisclosed settlement from the band and label. (Brody, whose whereabout were recently discovered, still faces legal action from all parties.)

6. The Strokes, Is This It

THE YEAR: 2001

THE CONTROVERSY: The dazzling debut album from the Strokes earned raves for its effervescent pop sensibility and its raw, seemingly unprocessed sound. The album cover featured a photo of a woman’s leather-glove-encased hand (a sly nod to Spinal Tap?) resting on her bare bottom. The photographer was Colin Lane and the model was his then-girlfriend, who had just emerged from a shower.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: When early copies of the album appeared in the U.K., retailers grumbled but stocked them in shelves. Perhaps sensing a stronger backlash from retailers in the U.S., the band replaced the stylish derriere with a more abstract image that showed the spiraling trajectories of subatomic particle collisions.

7. Sufjan Stevens, Illinois

THE YEAR: 2005

THE CONTROVERSY: The fifth album from indie-folkie Sufjan Stevens, Illinois (not Illinoise, as the album text would suggest) was reportedly the second in a series of of 50 albums, each celebrating a different state in our union. The album’s 22 tracks reference the best and worst of the Prairie State (including Carl Sandburg, serial killer John Wayne Gacy and the Cubs), and the album cover does the same: Divya Srinivasan’s illustration includes likenesses of Al Capone, the Hancock Tower, and — strangely enough — a flying Superman.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: It was widely reported that DC Comics — the holders of the copyright to the Man of Steel — sent a cease-and-desist letter to Stevens’ label, Asthmatic Kitty. In fact, the label’s own lawyers, when alerted to this infringement, contacted DC on their own and worked out a deal that allowed them to sell existing inventory and remove Superman in subsequent pressings. (Sadly, Stevens’ later admitted his 50-state project was just a gag.)

8. The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Electric Ladyland [U.K. Version]

THE YEAR: 1968

THE CONTROVERSY: The double-disc Electric Ladyland — featuring such guitar-rock staples “Crosstown Traffic,” “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)” and a searing cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” — was the third and last album from The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Jimi Hendrix himself had a definite concept of what he wanted on the cover: a picture of the band surrounded by children (taken by the future Linda McCartney, whose photos are featured inside). The labels had different ideas: Reprise, in the U.S., used a blurry picture of the rock star taken by Karl Ferris; Track, in the U.K., opted for a photo of 19 naked women sitting against a black backdrop.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: The U.K. version, released a month after the album went on sale in the States, generated a bit of controversy, but never to the degree that caused the labels to recall or remove inventory. The Hendrix estate has stated that the U.S. album, with the Ferris pic, should be considered the “official” version.

9. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Street Survivors

THE YEAR: 1977

THE CONTROVERSY: The fifth album from the legendary Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, Street Survivors, was, sadly, the last album recorded by founding members Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, as well as new guitarist Steve Gaines. On October 20, 1977, just three days after the album was released, a chartered plane carrying the three bandmates crashed in Louisiana, taking seven lives in all. The album cover featured a photograph — shot at Universal Studios — of the band engulfed in flames: an image that was hard to ignore as an unfortunate and macabre premonition of the tragedy that soon followed.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: At the request of the band’s families, the fiery picture was moved to the back of the album, and a new photo from the same shoot — with the band placed against a black background — was used on the cover. A 30th-anniversary re-issue, released in 2007, restored the original image back on the front.

10. Prince, Lovesexy

THE YEAR: 1988

THE CONTROVERSY: In late 1987, Prince fans awaited the release of his widely talked-about and deliciously funk-heavy Black Album. Only a few records went out before the artist, in true Prince fashion, abandoned the project and recalled all the albums — with the circulating copies becoming much sought-after bootlegs. A few months later, Prince released Lovesexy, which features a nude picture of the Purple One (shot by fashion photographer/video director Jean-Baptiste Mondino) reclining on a floral arrangement — with a distinctly phallic stamen pointed at his chest.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS: More than a few retailers objected to the images and would only sell the album wrapped in — you guessed it — black. (The “real” Black Album got an official release in 1994.)

Apparently you can not put a price on human youth and beauty. Everything else comes second when compared to this compelling imperative of staying young and beautiful. There is literally no ingredient that people would say is too disgusting, or find it morally wrong to put on their bodies, if there is even the slightest chance that it will make their hair shinier, their skin without wrinkles or their body odor more luring.

Most of us are using perfumes and cosmetics on daily basis, and we usually never bother to read the labels and see all the ingredients of the products we apply on our body, but now and then we should probably find time to do so. We could get really surprised with the amount of grouse and bizarre organic materials that are being used for making cosmetic products. Here goes the list of top 10 weirdest, most bizarre and disgusting perfume and cosmetic ingredients.

1. Placenta

The life giving uterus lining expelled after birth has been used in some beauty care products for years. Various manufacturers claim it helps stimulate tissue growth, reduces wrinkles and is good for your hair. Unfortunately, none of those claims have ever been proven.

2. Whale vomit

This material called Ambergris is useful as a fixative in perfumes. It has a sweet, earthy odor and is usually found washed up on a beach in South America or Australia. It has mostly been replaced by synthetic alternatives.

Squid make for a tasty meal for sperm whales, but the whales can’t digest the squid’s beak. So their whaley intestines cloak the beaks in a paste. The whales then spit the paste-coated beaks into the ocean, and the salt in the water and the sun in the sky give the paste its odor. Just watching this guy talk about it is fascinating.

3. Cochineal beetles

When you need a nice red color, you can drown a few of these buggers in some hot water, dry them out and pulverize them. The deep crimson dye is versatile enough to be used in skin creams, lipsticks and almost any other beauty product.

4. Human breast milk

It could be a gimmick but there are many people who use mother’s breast milk to produce soaps on a local or small scale. According to them a soap made from mother’s milk is excellent for skin.Is this something you would try?

5. Civet

Civet is a small, lithe-bodied, mostly nocturnal mammal native to tropical Asia and Africa, especially the tropical forests. The most well-known civet species is the African Civet, Civettictis civetta, which historically has been the main species from which was obtained a musky scent used in perfumery. The word civet may also refer to the distinctive musky scent produced by the animals.

According to the Guardian civet is “a fecal paste extracted from the anal glands of the civet cat.” In this video, a man discusses what raw civet oil smells like: “A mixture of a cat’s spray marking its territory and a dirty litter box — just fecal, and just pungent.”

6. Bull semen

Want shiny hair? Then a few salons in Europe think they have exactly what you need. Protein from bull semen is supposed to give amazing results. I’m skeptical it will give you anything more than a stiff hair cut like Cameron Diaz in Something About Marry.

7. Chicken bone marrow

Chicken bone marrow is supposed to be a good source of glucosamine but how that helps your cosmetic remains a mystery. But people still use chicken bone marrow but they rarely advertise it as such.

8. Castoreum (beaver balls)

Both beaver testicles and castoreum, a bitter-tasting secretion with a slightly fetid odor contained in the castor sacs of male or female beaver, have been articles of trade for use in traditional medicine. Castoreum continues to be used in perfume production.

Castoreum is a substance extracted from dried beaver balls. Apparently on its own, this substance has an unpleasant pungent scent, but once diluted can be quite pleasant, and is used commonly in men’s cologne to give it a leathery, smokey smell. In this video, a woman holds and discusses a pair of dried beaver balls.

9. Snake venom

One of the most ridiculous new ingredients for keeping wrinkles at bay is snake venom. Cosmetic makers who use this stuff hope that you’ll connect the Botox poison with snake poison and figure both must work wonders on wrinkles. Despite what Jamie Pressly might think, snake venom hasn’t been shown to have any positive improvement in wrinkle creams.

10. Human foreskin

Looking for the fountain of youth? Look no further than foreskin. It probably sounds a little bit gross, and probably a little bit unethical to some, but human foreskin is actually used by numerous cosmetic companies around the world. In the medical field, human foreskin has been used for years as a method to cultivate new skin growth, instead of performing skin graphs on burn patients. It’s been proven to work much more effectively. The same method is also used in the cosmetics world. Companies, the most notable being SkinMedica, use foreskin fibroblasts in cosmetic creams and collagens, especially those made to reduce wrinkles. It is said that one piece of foreskin from a baby boy can be used to create about 4 acres of new skin

Most Common Misconceptions

Why are there so many common misconceptions on just about any given topic under the sun? I guess it has something to do with people making assumptions, and gossiping. When everybody adds a little something to the story, just to spice things up, it usually ends with a bunch of nonsense that are widely considered to be truth or, in some extreme cases, these misconceptions can even be regarded as “general knowledge”.

So, let’s find out which are the most common misconceptions that befuddle people around the world. Go through this list and check out your own beliefs to see if any of them happen to be false.

1. Vikings didn’t wear horn helemts

There is no evidence that Vikings wore horns on their helmets. In fact, the image of Vikings wearing horned helmets stems from the scenography of an 1876 production of the Der Ring des Nibelungen opera cycle by Richard Wagner.

2. Colubmus and the myth of the flat Earth

Christopher Columbus’s efforts to obtain support for his voyages were not hampered by a European belief in a flat Earth. Sailors and navigators of the time knew that the Earth was roughly spherical, but (correctly) disagreed with Columbus’s estimate of the distance to India, which was approximately one-sixth of the actual distance. If the Americas did not exist, and had Columbus continued to India, he would have run out of supplies before reaching it at the rate he was traveling. Without the ability to determine longitude at sea, he could not have noticed that his estimate was an error in time to return. This longitude problem remained unsolved until the 18th century, when the lunar distance method emerged in parallel with efforts by inventor John Harrison to create the first marine chronometers. The intellectual class had known that the Earth was spherical since the works of the Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle. Eratosthenes made a very good estimate of the Earth’s diameter in approximately 240 BCE.

3. Pasta is not originally from Italy

Worldwide, pasta has become synonymous with Italian cuisine. Italian immigrants themselves brought pasta everywhere they went. While it is true that the most famous varieties and recipes of cooking pasta really do come from Italy, surprisingly, the actual origin of pasta lies elsewhere!
There is a legend that Marco Polo imported pasta from China which originated with the Macaroni Journal, published by an association of food industries with the goal of promoting the use of pasta in the United States. Marco Polo describes a food similar to “lagana” in his Travels, but he uses a term with which he was already familiar. Durum wheat, and thus pasta as it is known today, was introduced by Arabs from Libya, during their conquest of Sicily in the late 7th century, according to the newsletter of the National Macaroni Manufacturers Association, thus predating Marco Polo’s travels to China by about six centuries.Further support for this theory can be found by the fact that, in many old Sicilian pasta recipes, there are Arab gastronomic introductions

4. Marie Antoinette didn’t say “let them eat cake”

Marie Antoinette did not actually use the phrase “let them eat cake” when she heard that the French peasantry was starving due to a shortage of bread. The phrase was first published in Rousseau’s Confessions when Marie was only 10 years old and most scholars believe that Rousseau coined it himself, or that it was said by Maria-Theresa, the wife of Louis XIV. Even Rousseau (or Maria-Theresa) did not use the exact words but actually Qu’ils mangent de la brioche (“Let them eat brioche [a rich type of bread]“). Marie Antoinette was a very unpopular ruler and many people therefore attribute the phrase “let them eat cake” to her, in keeping with her reputation as being hard-hearted and disconnected from her subjects.

5. Napoleon wasn’t short

Napoleon Bonaparte was not short; rather he was slightly taller than the average Frenchman of his time. After his death in 1821, the French emperor’s height was recorded as 5 feet 2 inches in French feet. This corresponds to 5 feet 6.4 inches (1.686 m). Some believe that he was nicknamed le Petit Caporal (The Little Corporal) as a term of affection.

6. Alcohol ‘cooks out’ off the food

Alcohol does not “cook out” of food in most cases. The myth that alcohol does all cook out stems from the fact that alcohol has a much lower boiling point temperature (173 degrees Fahrenheit/78.5 degrees Celsius) than water (212F/100C). Thus, if the temperature is above 78.5 degrees Celsius, then the alcohol should boil off, right? Wrong! Contrary to what most people believe, the entire alcohol content doesn’t always evaporate or boil away before the food is served. A study from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Nutrient Data Laboratory showed that it can take longer than two and a half hours for all the alcohol to be cooked out of food to which wine or some other alcoholic beverage has been added.

7.The mystery of a microwave oven

Microwave ovens do not cook food from the inside out. Upon penetrating food, microwave radiation decays exponentially due to the skin effect and does not directly heat food significantly beyond the skin depth. As an example, lean muscle tissue (meat) has a skin depth of only about 1 centimetre (0.39 in) at microwave oven frequencies.

8. Blind as a Bat?

This is another fallacious statement. All species of bats have eyes and are capable of sight. Though most use echolocation, they are still capable of sight.

9. Shaving does not make hair grow in thicker or faster

Even though I find this hard to believe, the truth is that shaving does not make hair grow in thicker or faster. It appears that way because after you shave, the hair is shorter thus appearing to be thicker as it is less flexible.

10. X stands for the Christ

“Xmas” is not a secular plan to “take the Christ out of Christmas.” “The usual suggestion is that ‘Xmas’ is … an attempt by the ungodly to x-out Jesus and banish religion from the holiday.” However, X stands for the Greek letter Chi, the starting letter of Χριστός, or “Christ” in Greek. The use of the word “Xmas” can be traced to the year 1021 when “monks in Great Britain…used the X while transcribing classical manuscripts into Old English” in place of “Christ”. The Oxford English Dictionary’s “first recorded use of ‘Xmas’ for ‘Christmas’ dates back to 1551.” Paul Brians adds that, “so few people know this that it is probably better not to use this popular abbreviation in religious contexts.”

11. The great Wall of China is not visible from the Moon

It is commonly claimed that the Great Wall of China is the only human-made object visible from the Moon. This is false. None of the Apollo astronauts reported seeing any specific human-made object from the Moon, and even Earth-orbiting astronauts can barely see it. City lights, however, are easily visible on the night side of Earth from orbit. The misconception is believed to have been popularized by Richard Halliburton decades before the first moon landing. Shuttle astronaut Jay Apt has been quoted as saying that “the Great Wall is almost invisible from only 180 miles up.

12. Bulls are not enraged by red

Bulls are not enraged by the color red, used in capes by professional matadors. Cattle are dichromats, so red does not stand out as a bright color. It is not the color of the cape but its movement that irritates the bull and incites it to charge.

12 Ridiculous and Bizarre Laws in the United Kingdom

Are you aware of the vast amount of ridiculous laws that are still in effect in the United Kingdom? Most of these ludicrous and bizarre laws are still valid simply because it would take too much effort to abolish them. Apparently, it is a lengthy process which involves 4 stages of approval. So, to avoid unnecessary, tedious and expensive bureaucracy, the Brits still have laws, such as:

1. No dying in the Houses of Parliament

Legislation said to prohibit people dying while in the Houses of Parliament has been voted one of the most ludicrous laws in the UK. Apparently, anyone who dies in Parliament is technically entitled to a state funeral and the law is in place to ensure this does not happen.

2. No stamp bearing Queen can be upside down

In England, it is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the Queen upside down. It was probably considered to be some sort of disrespect toward to monarch in the past, and due to English sense for economy and wish not to spend money on bureaucracy, it is still on.

3. England, the promised land for the pregnant

England will become the most popular destination among the pregnant women when they hear about this law. In England, a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, even in a policeman’s helmet if she wishes so. This is really great news for all the future moms, because they are known for their bladder weakness.

4. No intercourse on the church steps

In Birmingham, after sundown it is against the law for a man and woman to partake in sexual intercourse on church steps. Therefor, I can only assume that it is perfectly legal during the day, or if the participants aren’t man and woman.

5. The right to bite

This one is unfortunately no longer valid. In England in 1837, if a man kissed a woman against her will, she could legally bit off his nose.

6. No Welsh in Chester

In Chester, the Welsh are banned before sun up and after the sun down.

7. Also, no Scotsman in York

In York, it is legal to kill a Scotsman within the ancient city boundary, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow.

8. A barrel of rum when you enter London Port

Navy ships that enter London Port must provide a barrel of rum to the Constable of the Tower of London.

9. Dead whale on the British coast

If a dead whale is found on the British coast, the head is legally the property of the King, and the tail belongs to the Queen – to use the bones for corsets.

10. Bizarre taxi law 1

In London, it is illegal for a City cab to carry rabid dogs or corpses. So, you’re gonna have to find another means of transport if you want to get rid of dead bodies. Also, if you want to take your rabid dog to the vet.

11. Bizarre taxi law 2

In London, it is illegal to flag down a taxi if you have plague. If you get plague, you should probably walk to the nearest hospital, because taking a cab might get you in prison. I like how the same rules apply both for dogs and humans.

12. Bizarre taxi law 3

But if you really want to take a cab in some of these situations mentioned above, you can twist your cabdrivers hand by reminding him that according to UK legislation, each city cab must carry a bale of hay at all times.

Happy Birthday Jack Nicholson: The Iconic Actor’s Best Lines

As the legendary award-winning actor Jack Nicholson turns 75 this weekend, we’ve decided to look back at some of his most memorable movie roles and some iconic and often quoted lines.

1. Easy Rider, as George Hanson

THE LINE: “This used to be a helluva good country. I can’t understand what’s gone wrong with it.”

THE MOVIE: A 1969 biker drama starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, this misadventure movie was a seminal film in the counterculture movement of the time. Nicholson’s character is a drunken lawyer who leaves square-dom behind…at the same moment the rest of the country does. Nicholson got his first Oscar nomination for the part.

2. Five Easy Pieces, as Robert Dupea

THE LINE: “I move around a lot, not because I’m looking for anything really, but ’cause I’m getting away from things that get bad if I stay.”

THE MOVIE: In this 1970 drama, Nicholson plays a former classical musician—who can easily play the five pieces possibly referenced in the title—who works on an oil field but has to come to terms with his hoity-toity family, the people and life he ran away from. Nicholson was nominated for an Oscar for the role.

3. Chinatown, as Jake Gittes

THE LINE: “What can I tell you, kid? You’re right. When you’re right, you’re right, and you’re right.”

THE MOVIE: The most famous line in Chinatown—“Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”—is actually said to Nicholson rather than by him, but the 1974 private-detective movie has plenty of runners-up. Nicholson plays said detective, hired to investigate an affair (or so he thinks), and was nominated for an Oscar for the part.

4. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, as R.P. McMurphy

THE LINE: “I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.”
THE MOVIE: In this 1975 classic, Nicholson plays a criminal who pleads insanity but gets more than he bargained for when he’s sent to an Oregon mental institution ruled with an iron fist by the terrifying Nurse Ratched. His ringleader character tries to get the patients to rebel, but the situation is even crazier than he had imagined. Nicholson won his first Oscar for the part.

5. The Shining, as Jack Torrance

THE LINE: “Heeere’s Johnny!”

THE MOVIE: This 1980 horror film, based on a Stephen King story and directed by Stanley Kubrick, remains one of Nicholson’s most famous roles—and the movie, in which he plays a writer losing his mind in a remote hotel, is full of contenders for his most famous quote.

6. Terms of Endearment, as Garrett Breedlove

THE LINE: “I don’t know what it is about you, but you do bring out the devil in me.”

THE MOVIE:Nicholson plays the astronaut neighbor (and more) to Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger’s mother-daughter protagonists in this 1983 tearjerker. But, even though he’s not part of the central duo, romantic affairs taking backseat (in a convertible) to familiar ones. Nicholson won an Oscar for his role.

7. Prizzi’s Honor, as Charley Partanna

THE LINE: “Do I ice her? Do I marry her?”

THE MOVIE:This 1985 crime comedy stars Nicholson as a hit man in love with another assassin (Kathleen Turner) and who must contemplate the essential dilemma summed up in this line. Nicholson was nominated for an Oscar for the role.

8. The Witches of Eastwick, as Daryl Van Horne

THE LINE: “Well, if that’s how you feel about it, then that’s how you feel about it. Is that how you feel about it?”

THE MOVIE: This 1987 horror/comedy film, based on a John Updike novel, stars Nicholson as a mysterious man who appears in an uptight New England town and begins to seduce three single women who don’t yet know their own witchy powers. Not that Nicholson’s seductive stranger doesn’t have his own powers, too.

9. Batman, as the Joker

THE LINE: “Nice outfit.”

THE MOVIE: In the 1989 installment of the Batman films, Nicholson plays the smiling, psychotic villain opposite Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight. Although the Batman-baddie stable is a crowded one, Nicholson did a memorable turn in the plaid pants of evil—and managed to wear that ensemble while being fully underwhelmed by the batsuit.

10. A Few Good Men, as Col. Nathan R. Jessup

THE LINE: “You can’t handle the truth!”

THE MOVIE: The 1992 military procedural thriller stars Tom Cruise as a naval lawyer in over his head, but the most memorable moment of the movie goes to Nicholson’s unhinged Colonel character, who gets to say one of the actor’s most famous lines ever and for whom he received another Oscar nod.

11. As Good as It Gets, as Melvin Udall

THE LINE: “You make me want to be a better man.”

THE MOVIE:In a 1997 romantic turn, Nicholson plays opposite Helen Hunt as a misanthrope who discovers what it’s like to actually care about another person for once. Is there a better way of addressing your geekiness then transforming superheroes, villains and characters form popular movies into people in family vintage photos? I seriously doubt it. Marvellini brothers find this to be incredibly amusing, and so do I. The best part are massive, ornate and antique frames. They seem to bring the whole composition in ton. If you ever wondered what Batman’s great-great-grandfather looked like, you can find the answer to that question here. We all know superheroes are orphans, but still many are well aware of their origins and you can exclusively have a glance at their ancestors here.

The 9 Most Terrifying Real-Life Nerf Weapons

Nerf has been making kids happy by letting them shoot other kids in the face for years now. However, much like ‘The Hunger Games’, we can’t help but get the feeling that they’re secretly training kids to fight wars. After all, why else would they have invented…

#9: The Stampede

Ok, so let’s go through this gun and see if we can identify the scariest feature of it. Is it the barrel-mounted tripod which means that, if you’re ever unfortunate enough to be in range of this weapon, the shooter will have a steady enough shot to be able to expertly put a dart between your eyes? Is it the massive definitely-overcompensating-for-something magazine capable of holding up to 18 darts? Or is the fact that with the bullet shield on the front, you will never ever be able to put your opponent down with a headshot before they riddle with foam?

Trick question: all of these things are equally terrifying. Don’t mess.

#8: The Maverick

You might have scoffed when you saw the above picture and, yes, we have to admit that the blue and yellow color scheme doesn’t lend itself well to us calling it a terrifying piece of hardware. But, if it makes you feel any better (it won’t), you know for a fact that the only occasion when you’ll ever see this gun in Nerf battle is after you’ve been captured using one of the bigger guns mentioned above, and your captors are sitting re-enacting The Deer Hunter. Oh, and by the way, as Penny Arcade once pointed out you’re Christopher Walken.

#7: The Havok Fire Vulcan EBF-25

Thanks to games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty, only a small number of children don’t know about the Normandy Invasion during World War 2. So, thanks to Nerf, now your kids/you and your delinquent friends can re-enact it with an untold level of authenticity! Watch as your friends try to shoot you whilst you mow most of them down with your gatling gun! Experience the thrills as you swivel the gun in all directions, ensuring no-on goes away unscathed! Forget about needing to reload thanks to the belt-fed mechanism capable of holding 25 darts! Warning: using this gun in such a way will make you look like a Nazi, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

#6 and #5: The Longshot and Longstrike

Just for the sake of clarification, the Longshot is the top gun whilst the Longstrike is the one on the bottom. Now that’s sorted, you might be saying to yourself “Isn’t this cheating by having two guns under one item on the list”, and our reply is “Yes, absolutely, but we’re trained in the usage of all Nerf guns ever, so bring it bitch”. The simple face of the matter though, is that both of these guns are equally insane, and there’s little difference between them. They’re terrifying creations born out some twisted experiment by Nerf at creating guns which are stupid-looking enough not to get you shot by the cops if you ever use them in public, but powerful enough (and trust the author on this) to actually badly hurt you if you ever (again, trust the author on this) get shot in the face with one.

If you’re ever on the wrong side of the barrel during battle, hope for a strong wind though. Foam darts hate that.

#4: Raider

The first thing you’ll notice about this gun is the huge freaking barrel mounted onto the side. The huge freaking barrel that, despite looking like something from ‘Bugsy Malone’, is capable of holding 35 kidney-destroying darts. However, like all the best bad guys, this gun has two main issues: firstly, it only fires one dart at a time and secondly, after every shot, it needs to manually reloaded using a slide on the front. But, holy shit, be glad this thing only has one barrel because this gun hurts. Imagine a minigun version, but don’t imagine that too hard because that would be the best thing they’ll never ever make ever.

#3: Wildfire

Well, we’ll just shut up our stupid mouths on our stupid faces then won’t we? Yes, apparently Nerf made a minigun and it looks as terrifying as all shit. The Wildfire was able to fire 24 darts in a bowels-emptying-ly fast time of 8 seconds, which equates to one dart every 0.3 seconds. We’re not mathematicians here, but when that gun could easily be aimed at your genitals by a particularly malicious opponent, that time is very very very quick. If you see one, just treat it like a wild lion and run for your life.

#2: Deploy

Question: what’s worse than a gun? Answer: a gun you can’t see until it’s pointed at your chest. That’s obviously the same thing that was running through the heads of the Nerf designers when they came up with the Deploy; when disguised, it’s shaped like a toolbox with a torch on the front, which considering that’s also bright yellow, also has the side effect of making you look like a raging tool too. However, by pressing a switch on the top, it instantly transforms into a sub-machine gun and suddenly you’ve taken 7 darts to the chest.

#1: Big Bad Bow

Want to know why this is a terrifying piece of hardware? Three words for you. The Hunger Games.

12 Ordinary Objects Ruined By The Japanese

What’s the first thing you think of when you think of Japan? The birthplace of many of your favorite electronic gadgets? That place Godzilla kept trashing? Or the country that sells used panties in vending machines and regards ‘tentacle length’ as being an indicator of sexual prowess? Precisely. Most people consider Japan to be some kind of bizarre land filled with weird freaky shit. And you know what? They’d be right.

But judging by the looks of it, they’re running out of stuff to make weird, so they’re starting to steal good ideas and turn them bad. Here are the twelve best (or worst) examples we could find.

Alarm Clocks

OK, so there are only a few things in the world that, no matter how hard anybody tries, you can’t possibly ruin. What things? Well, for starters, there’s sex, chocolate, beer, The Dark Knight, and the faithful humble alarm clock. Wait, what was that last one? Forget it guys, Japan went there.

This is the Helicopter Alarm Clock, something which represents both the insanity of Japan and their unmatched inventiveness when it comes to naming things. How it works is simple: you set the time, go to sleep and dream about Japanese people dream about (Pokemon and the Emperor probably), and then it goes off with an unholy racket, the top propeller flies off, and decapitates your cat. And then, you actually need to get out of bed, find the propeller amongst the remains of your ex-feline ex-friend, and then plug it back in before the damn thing will shut up.

Still, it’s better than some other designs…

Pro-tip: Getting arrested because your neighbour thinks you’re waving a gun around is never ever fun, more-so at 7am. Hope the police let you put on some pants before throwing you into the back of the patrol car.

Houses

We here at Artsy Swag believe in two things; firstly, boobies. Secondly, we believe in not over-explaining our jokes, so coming up now is a selection of strange freaky buildings whose weirdness just speaks for itself.

Is it just us or does that last one have the face of a child? A demonic child, what with the glowing red porch, but a child none the less.

Cars

Ruining the car is near-impossible. We, after all, invented ‘Pimp My Ride’, a show where Xhibit borrowed people’s cars, shoved them into a workshop, and brought them out looking they’d just covered the car in glue and rolled it into a pile of plasma TV’s. Like a Katamari Damacy made of chrome plating. But, no. It seems Japan isn’t even going to let us have this.

Using this on the morning commute will only ensure one thing you spend the entire time reciting lines from Back to the Future; “You callin’ me chicken?” (used when some dickwad in a Toyota cuts you up on the highway), “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!” (used when you daydream about not getting stuck in a two-hour long traffic jam by having your car turn into a B52 and carpet-bomb everyone else), and especially if you live in Europe, “I hate manure!” (because, y’know, there’s tonnes of that shit there, no pun intended).

But, then your co-worker pulls up next to you in this:

Yeah, that’s a car made of bamboo. Suddenly, you don’t feel so stupid now do you?

Food

“Seriously?”, you might be asking now to no-one who gives a shit; “how could they have ruined food for christsakes?” Well…

Yeah. That’s how. Before you call bullshit on that by the way, that is an actual real thing that they sell over there. Although to be honest, we can’t ever think of a situation where you’d need it. People who like to make sandwiches on the subway? Lube fetishists who like their toys really lubed up? Obese people? Please, someone tell us. Although actually, thinking about it, practical jokesters could have a field day with this in art lessons. That’s not a hint by the way: that’s an order to do this right now.

Still, it can’t get weirder right?

Oh come on.

Sex

Right, we’re not going to sit here and write a massive introduction which says that Japan hasn’t ruined sex, and then reveal that, OMG, they have. Instead, we’re just going to leave this here:

Yes, they’re vibrators made in the shape of appear to be vegetables. We think at least. Although, the second one does look like the penis of The Incredible Hulk, so maybe there’s a big market previously-untapped market for ‘The Avengers’ sex toys over there.

Look at it this way; ‘Hawkeye’ could totally unplug that vibrator from his phone in the heat of battle and shoot it at someone like an arrow made of inappropriateness. You might have also noticed a running theme here amongst these Japanese sex toys, in that there’s not a lot of actual sex going on, only self-love. Wonder why? Because they also sell these:

Looking at it is guaranteed to ensure that you never, ever do anything that could ever result in something like that being born. Ever.

10 Awful Video Game Covers

For a video game maker to produce the best game that they can, all of their money often needs to be spent on things like wonderful writing’ (the obvious exception to this being Mass Effect 3), good graphics, and superb sound. Unfortunately, this doesn’t leave much money left for the box, so it’s little wonder that some people try and hire students from the local community college to help them. If not, why would these monstrosities exist?

#10: Ninja Golf

We know ninjas mean stealth and sneakiness, but what possible tactical advantage does he get by playing his golf games at night? The answer to this question, by the way, is “None, although no-one will ever see me embarrassing the honor of my family by doing this”. Also, that clearly isn’t a ninja; that’s the guy with the big sword who Indiana Jones shot in that marketplace in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

#9: Final Fight

Unfortunately, despite having ‘Fight’ in the name, the game does not offer you to the chance to pit a man who could only be the result of mixing the DNA of Terrence Stamp, Sylvester Stallone, and a Ghost Rider era Nicholas Cage in a battle to the death against a man who looks uncannily like Saddam Hussein or a thin Stalin.

#8: Ico

Thank God that we don’t have to try and work out the plot of this game via the box art, or we’d all be screwed/insanely confused: “So, it’s a young Michael Cera frolicking around the countryside hitting windmills with planks of wood? What about the ghost girl? Does she tell him to ‘use the force’ everytime he misses his target? No, wait that’s Star Wars….this is a dumb game”.

#7: Courier Crisis

Finally, a game that allows you to accurately simulate what happens to Watson at the end of ‘The Reichenbach Fall’. Was the eponymous courier responsible for preventing Watson from reaching Sherlock in time? Probably not, seeing as this game was made in the early 2000’s by a person who, when they researched about this game, evidently confused ‘couriers’ with ‘wrestlers’. Although, if you live in NYC, you’ll all know that this game is completely based on real-life.

#6: Checkers

On the advice of our lawyers, we aren’t going to make any jokes or insinuate that the older guy in this image is finding more joy in the company of that child than is legally allowed in all states, apart from Alabama and Georgia. You’d have thought King Arthur would object to this as well, but let’s face: that guy looks a bit of a dick, and also, just like Sean Connery.

#5: Bust-A-Move 2

Anybody who knows their Doctor Who history will instantly know that this box art is an exact representation of what the title sequence for the original 1963 series starring William Hartnell was going to look like. However, the bigwigs at the BBC objected (for some reason) at a couple of things, namely the screaming purple face which makes the pictured head look like an oversized blackcurrant, the matchsticks which are holding his guys open (obviously a makeshift homage to A Clockwork Orange), and of course, the fact that in the background there are several more clones of this hideous scene. Pussies.

#4: Ultima V

Remember that dickhead knight who looks like Sean Connery from the paedo-tastic Checkers game above? Well, karma seems to have got him because by the looks of it, he’s about to have the flesh stripped from his bones by the Knights Who Say ‘Ni’. Or some owls in big flowy capes. Whichever, really. Although that frightened worried stance he’s taking might be a result of the electric sparkling probe that lady seem to be trying to insert into his bottom.

#3: Mega Man 2

So many questions need asking of this, so we’ll just lead straight into them. Is the plot of this game focused on Mega Man trying to rescue the rest of his suit from an evil laundrette owner, hence why he only appears to be wearing a sleeve? Has he teamed-up with Iron Man, what with the bright silver suit and everything? Why is he being watched by a giant brain on an altar and an Angry Birds-esque head rendition of the Cheshire Cat? WHY IS HIS ARM A BOWLING PIN?

#2: Super Man

No, it isn’t. Anyone who buys this thinking this is, like, Superman: The Early Years needs to stop deluding themselves right now. From what we can deduce, this game is about Alan Rickman being stalked by the robot from Lost in Space in the middle of Stonehenge, his character trait of which is to fire his gun into the air wildly at random intervals. Also, there’s clearly no ‘S’ on his suit. D- for accuracy.

#1: Ninja Scooter Simulator

Quite frankly, what other game could have reached the top spot of this list? We could spend literally all day poking through this image and dredging up all of the oddities. For instance, where does he hold his sword when he’s riding? Do the handlebars have spikes on as well? And where does he buy those phat rims, from P Diddy’s garage sale? But, we like this game too much to hurt it. We’ll be on eBay looking for a copy if anybody wants us.

A mother carries her dead child to the grave, after wrapping it in a shroud according to local custom. A bad drought coupled with the effects of civil war caused a terrible famine in Somalia which claimed the lives of between one and two million people over a period of two years, more than 200 a day in the worst affected areas. The international airlift of relief supplies which started in July was hampered by heavily armed gangs of clansmen who looted food storage centers and slowed down the distribution of the supplies by aid organizations. Boys raise toy guns in a gesture of defiance. The Palestinian uprising, which began in December 1987, strengthened the Arab population in their determination to fight the occupying force. In March Israel closed its border with Gaza, causing a massive rise in unemployment. With more than 800,000 people contained in the Israeli-patrolled, eight-km-wide strip of land, bloodshed increased sharply. And he does it with out using CG or Photoshop. He simply sets the scene and then somehow miraculously manages to make the ants do exactly what he wants them to! The last picture shows some money being exchanged between him and his ant model crew, but I seriously doubt it does the trick.

I really love looking at old photos of celebrities, from the time when they weren’t famous yet. Here are 15 images of Stefani Germanotta taken in 2005 before she was Lady Gaga at her parent’s house. Photos were taken by Malgorzata Saniewska. At the time both of the girls were working at a restaurant in the West Village. These images give us the opportunity to see the real Gaga, more vulnerable and more “human”. On March 4th, Vladimir Putin claimed convincing victory in Russia’s presidential elections. Soon after the results were declared there appeared allegations from his rivals that voting was marred by fraud. A Closer Look at Rihanna’s 15 Tattoos

Most of the people look at Rihanna as girly girl pop star and somehow having 15 tattoos doesn’t really concur with that image, but I’m guessing this is that part “good girl gone bad”.

Rihanna’s middle finger gives love, not hate. It’s so sweat and chic.

3. Sanskrit Prayer

Sanskrit prayer tattoo on her right hip says: “Forgiveness, Honesty, Suppression and Control”.

4. Maori-inspired Hand Tattoo

This exotic Maori-inspired hand tat represents strength and love and was done in the traditional New Zealand style on tattooing, using uhi, or chisels to add inked grooves into the skin rather than piercing it with needles and ink. This makes the skin a bit raised and rough rather than a smooth surface. This intricate tribal hand tat probably hurt really, really bad.

They all have huge heads that are sometimes even larger than the rest of their body, but somehow we all overlook that anomaly, and the only thing we see is adorable little cutie. The soda war has been raging for years between Cola and Pepsi, and to win both companies were experimenting with new, unusual flavors. We still don’t have an official winner, but we have to admit that in the category of the most bizarre flavors that appeared and were then swiftly withdrawn from the supermarket shelves, Pepsi has undoubtedly come out on top. Most of these ridiculously flavored Pepsi drinks appeared (lo and behold) in Japan, but to be fair, Russia had its share in this monkey business, as well. So, here’s a toast to that crazy bubbly drink!

1. Ice Cream (Russia)

Pepsi that tastes like vanilla ice cream appeared in Russia, and despite how awesome it sounds, it apparently tasted like shit, because it was soon withdrawn from sale.

This Pepsi flavor was probably designed to keep you awake.

Sexism in Vintage Ads

I decided to look at these terrible ads not as a proof of how common gender stereotypes were in the past, but as a proof of progress women achieved in improving their position in general in the last 50 years. Unfortunately, we are far from stereotype-free society, because there are still plenty of those who will make jokes about women being bad drivers, brainless beauties or house dwellers. At least we have moved on to recognizing a stereotype when we see one and disapproving of it. We don’t put up with this nonsense anymore and companies don’t invoke it to push their products. I know it’s not much, but it gives hope for a better future.

Male Superheroes Dressed Like Female Superheroes

Did you ever pay attention to female superhero characters and their impractical, stripper-ish costumes in the comics? If you have trouble noticing how sexist their outfits are, or how demeaning the presenting of these characters in general is, just try picturing male characters instead of the females and you’ll see how awful it is. The female costumes are so ridiculously cut, like the most important thing in fighting crime and catching villains is to show as much cleavage, crotch and butt as possible. This makes me so mad!

Most of the hipsters love bragging about being “green” and highly concerned about the environment, therefor most of them ride bikes. And there are even bunch of websites and forums where they post thousands upon thousands of obnoxious images of the most ridiculous and weird bikes that are literally impossible to ride and that most of them built on their own. Here are some of those images. What do you think about these people and their constructions? I find them rather annoying and pretentious, but they probably think they are incredibly cool.
