The generation, born from 1928 to 1945 didn’t have a childhood, it was stolen from them by those sad years of World War II. They are also called “Children of the Great Patriotic War”, but there’s nothing great about that if you ask me. All I can see on these images are sadness, orphans, dead people and grief. The tortured children in 1942 Location: Stalingrad
On September Hitler’s troops captured the city Schlisselburg at the source of the Neva River and surrounded Leningrad from the land. Started 871 – day siege of the city on the Neva. The only way into the besieged city was scantily Lake Ladoga. From Leningrad in the water was evacuated 33,479 people, but navigation was mortally dangerous. Frequent attacks of enemy aircraft and unpredictable autumn storms made every flight feat.
