Japan is know for its weirdness, just as America is known for its fat couch-potatoes. Still, we can't help our curiosity about the other side. Here are some really weird examples of Japanese artworks that will most likely make you say WTF at the same time, as you're sending it to your friend by saying: "Dude, you must check this out!" because that's how WTF stuff works - you're shocked or even groused by something and at the same time you want to show it to everyone.
Nothing says Japan as nasty combination of human being and some dangerous monster. To make this image complete, we need to add some octopus with tentacles that look like penises and a bunch of school girls, naturally.
Generally, taxidermy makes me uncomfortable. Just knowing that those are stuffed dead bodies of animals that people keep in their houses, or anywhere else as trophies, is really creepy. But, for Japanese people, taxidermy alone wasn't weird enough, so they decided to paint these poor rats as Picachu so it would scream Japan more obviously.

This school bus, actually, looks pretty cool. But, the only problem with school buses in Japan is, that my first association is horny school girls and inappropriate relationships they have with their aging teachers, or with that octopus with penis tentacles that I mentioned above.
There is some guy that does this thing with bananas. He makes different small sculptures in bananas, most of which resemble some sort of alien invaders, monsters and other usual Japan stuff.
This is an illustration from some Japanese book featuring a moment of attack, when this weird looking cat-rat with two tails bites some man's neck. I'm guessing, it's a children's book.
This reminds me of that South Park episode when Stan's dad is getting testicular cancer on purpose so he could have some medical marijuana.
Apparently, you can go to the other continent, but there is no escape from the emos! They are everywhere... I'm only hoping that this  moronic scarification was her idea, because judging by the tears in her eyes, I could easily jump to a conclusion that she's being tortured and mutilated against her will.
It seems to me like the guy with ridiculously cut blue jump suit in the left can't figure out why the guy on the right is crying semen tears.

When having a global brand, the main thing is to make those small subtle changes for each market. For example, Japanese customers will with their pizza get a complementary anime drawing of a girl in a rather humiliating dog position, so you could feed her.
Actually, I always imagined the ending scene of Red Riding Hood like this. I'm glad someone finally made a drawing so the less imaginative people could picture it as well.
After his death in December 2011, nothing changed in the North Korea, but for quite some time, Kim Jong-il was inevitable on internet. Here we can see him as baseball player with launching Picachus behind him, that are for some strange reason shaped like penises. I have no idea how does this relate to Japan, or what was the point of this cartoon.
